508MM converts paraffin waxes, derived from petroleum (crude oil, tank bottoms, slop oil, and sludge) as well as synthetic sources (Fischer-Tropsch, polyethylene, polypropylene and alpha olefins) from a crystalline to an amorphous form. In the amorphous state wax is a semisolid and is easily solubilized and dispersed in hydrocarbon solvents such as crude oil and refined products (Diesel, Middle Distillate, L.C.O.-Light Cycle Oil and Fuel Oils).
When paraffin wax becomes soluble and dispersed in hydrocarbon cutter stocks the final blends become stable and easier to transport by pipelines and tanker trucks. Especially in the case of reclaimed waste oils.
In the presence of 1000 - 2500 ppm. of 508MM, one barrel of crude oil tank bottoms (paraffin) sludge may be dissolved in one barrel of cutter stock (e.g. Diesel or Naptha) at ambient temperatures without the need for any heat (energy). Whereas recovered paraffin wax will separate or drop out of solution in hydrocarbon cutter stocks in the absence of heat, in the presence of 508MM at, paraffin wax will stay in solution at room temperature.
Asphaltenes and Heavy Crude Oils

508MM acts as a peptizing and stabilization agent for heavy asphaltene containing crude oils. 508MM allows heavy crude oils to flow more easily by lowering viscosity of the high asphaltene containing oils.
It also works as a dispersing agent for heavy oils in cutter stocks during sludge treatment operations
